From engineering to momentum.
I’m Samer Al-Saqqa, a Riyadh-based marketing and growth leader working at the intersection of brand, demand, and consumer behavior.
My career has taken me across some of the region’s most competitive categories: consumer technology with Huawei and HONOR, fitness and lifestyle with Leejam Sports / Fitness Time, and now health-focused food-tech with Calo.
At Calo, I lead marketing and demand across multiple markets. That includes brand, performance, growth, partnerships, creators, customer experience, and emerging business verticals. A big part of the work is building the teams, systems, and stories that help a modern consumer business scale without losing clarity.
Before Calo, I was Marketing Director at Leejam Sports, the company behind Fitness Time. During that period, the business grew from around 140 locations to 211, membership increased from roughly 300,000 to more than 500,000, and the stock reached an all-time high in 2024.
Earlier in my career, I held senior marketing roles at HONOR and Huawei Saudi Arabia, working across brand building, partnerships, go-to-market, and consumer technology.
I studied industrial engineering, and that still shapes how I think. I tend to look at brands as systems: how the team is structured, how decisions are made, how the message travels, and how growth compounds. But I’ve always cared just as much about the creative side. As a musician and a self-taught technologist, I bring a mix of structure, curiosity, and craft into the way I build brands, teams, and operating models.
Today, my focus is helping ambitious consumer brands shape strategy and translate it into momentum — clearer positioning, stronger demand engines, better team alignment, sharper execution.
How I work
Four principles I keep coming back to.
Systems over heroics
Good marketing isn't a string of campaigns — it's an operating system. I build structures, cadences, and decision tools that make great work repeatable.
Strategy earns its keep in execution
Positioning that doesn't change what the team ships on Monday is decoration. I stay close enough to the work to make strategy real.
Narrative is infrastructure
A clear story aligns teams, partners, and markets faster than any process document. I treat narrative as a leadership tool, not a deliverable.
Stay a builder
Music and code keep me close to the craft of making things. Curiosity is a professional skill — I protect time for it.
